A Voyage from the Past,
and One for the Future

Weather bound in Brixham

Why are we here?

Awaiting the start

As some readers may know if they have looked at the RB08 website or the Motor Boat and Yachting website, we damaged our port propeller on WW2 anti-submarine defences whilst waiting for the start of the first leg race from Portsmouth to Plymouth. Although we crossed the start line (as the video footage shows), the vibration was too much to consider running and we had to withdraw from the leg.

We are off!

We were able to affect emergency repairs due to the kindness of Jonathan Hynde at Port Solent (www.portsolent.com) and Paul Williams of Clements Engineering (St Neots) Ltd (www.clementsmarine.co.uk). We were able to leave Portsmouth by 9pm en-route for Plymouth to re-join the fleet.  Weather conditions across Lyme Bay however worsened to a Force 6-7 on the nose and we decided to divert to Brixham.

Back in the water ready to leave Port Solent

When we join the fleet again depends on the weather and currently the forecast is not good! However, we are examining other possibilities – as are other competitors – and will update this website with any plans as soon as they are formed.

Meanwhile, enjoy the video which at least shows us crossing the start line!
